Thanksgiving with the Allens
I do not foresee any change of pace from now until we leave for Christmas and life is BUSY! This week I am attempting to catch up on everything I totally blew off while Meags, Cory, and kids were here. Laundry, bills, returning phone calls, cleaning, all that crap. My oh my did we have fun with the Allen family. The Lowdown-
1. Saturday night the Allens arrive and we visit and play
2. Sunday- We pack a picnic and go out to Lover's Point for lunch. Kids play on the rocks and down on the beach. We come home and go to church and then have a big pot roast dinner.
3. Monday- We take Cory up to see our house in the valley. We picnic at the meadow and then drive down to Asilomar to enjoy the tide pools (Mike had to work Monday and Tuesday).
4. Tuesday- I took Meagan down to Carmel and showed her around, we made a big trip to Costco, then I babysat (which Cory did in the morning) while Meags and Cory went down into Carmel. Game Night- Ticket to Ride.
5. Wednesday- We drive down 1 South to Big Sur and go on a short but rigorous hike in Julia Pfeiffer SP. Then we went out to watch the waves crash at the end of Point Lobos. From there we went home for dinner and then back down to the beach for a bonfire and s'mores.
6. Thursday- is spent gorging ourselves. I made cinnamon rolls from mom's amazing bread recipe for breakfast while Meagan worked on our sweet potatoes and started the stuffing. The kids played and made crafts, Cory and Mike wandered in and out of the kitchen. Meags and I cooked- all day. We tried out a few new recipes. It was so wonderful spending the day in the kitchen with my sister, truly a memory to treasure. We had a two hour break which we spent at a playground. Then an absolutely delicious Thanksgiving dinner. Movies and games followed.
7. Friday- A much needed lazy day. Bad weather, which made it easy to stay inside and hang out. We watched movies, played games, and relaxed. In the afternoon we took a drive along 17 Mile Drive and then went to Pizza My Heart for dinner. Mike and Cory took the boys home and the girls stayed at the mall and did a little window shopping. Games.
8. Saturday- We took the kids to Dennis the Menace park, ate a picnic lunch, and then drove down to Cannery Row. Meags and I had planned a scavenger hunt for the kids with things they could find along the way. It was really fun. We visited Santa (who knew right where Battleground was located, cool huh?), enjoyed all the sights, then headed to In-N-Out for dinner. Another night of gaming till one in the morning.
9. Sunday- we'd rather not talk about. The Allens packed up and left at about 9:30. Everything seemed very quiet after that. Good thing we'll be going to Washington in just a few short weeks!

It all sounds so magical. The trips to the beach, the games (especially ticket to ride), the food. I am jealous, very jealous!
So I got tears in my eyes reading this. There's a reason Californians are so proud. If it wasn't so darn expensive (and crowded!), we'd live there forever!! I love those trees!!
