va- weekend with ellery and leanne
Lucky for us, we were able to see Le Anne and Ellery this weekend up in D.C. Ellery had a Pizza Hut Conference in a REALLY nice hotel, so we decided to take advantage of that (and of course, seeing gma and pa) to go up. We had so much fun. We had fun saw a majority of "the mall" (the monuments in D.C.) and then were lucky enough to go through a good number of museums. Once again, can I tell you how blessed we've been to live here??
On Sunday morning, I got on mormon.org so we could find a place to go to church. I thought it'd be a cool experience to go to a ward right downtown. We raced around trying to get all 7 of us ready and out the door for 10 am church, followed our directions EXACTLY, and to our dismay, found ourselves in a half-block section of D.C., right in front of the Holocaust Museum. No LDS church to be found. We walked back and forth (in insanely high heals at that) in heat and humidity, asking the hundreds of overstaffed Smithsonian guards if they knew of any LDS congregation that met in the vicinity. No, we never found it. We even drove around for a good half hour after we got the REAL address from Adam and MIndi. Still didn't find it. We ended up picking up some food at a scary Safeway, heading over to Arlington Cemetary, and eating out of the back of out van in the underground parking. Don't worry, we did end up seeing the Cemetary and much more. Thank you Ellery and Le Anne for always being so willing to play and entertain us! We love you!
