How to make a Grandma feel good!

Last fall I had been working in the yard all day and had started a bonfire to get rid of all the clippings and things we can't compost. It was about 7 pm when I get this phone call from Geof. only it isn't Geof. it is Cole trying to sound like Geof. Not very successfully I might add since he's 8. It is 10 pm his time. "Hey Cole, isn't it pretty late there?" He giggles. He tells me his mom is gone and dad is babysitting....(kind of like Ellery used to baby sit) watching football. He had his dad's phone and was in his bed under the covers and decided to call Grandma. So funny! We talked for 45 min. It is amazing what an 8 year old can come up with to talk about when he thinks he is getting away with something. He told me about piano and soccer and asked how Jackson was doing after his surgery. He is such a sweet little kid and so much fun! It will always be a wonderful memory for me watching the fire die down, the sky darkening and talking to Cole.

Sunday, Ellery has not been feeling well (kidney stones) so I went to church by myself. I didn't see Cory and the kids right off (Meags and Harris are in VA with Geof. Darla and the kids) so I just slipped into the middle row. Jackson is a deacon now and was passing the sacrament. Afterwards they are excused to go sit with their families. Jackson discreetly indicates to his dad that he is going to sit with me and gets the nod from Cory. Jack comes back sits down next to me and puts his arm around me and lays his head on my shoulder. A sister in the ward bears her testimony tells a story about a teacher at school that started to talk about the Mormons. His information was not correct. There were 3 or 4 kids in the class that spoke up and told him that was not right and then told him and the class what they believed. Jackson whispers he was one of those kids. At first the sister said she and her husband were really upset, but then decided what the teacher needed and was probably looking for was more information about the church. Their sweet little daughter asked if they had a Book of Mormon? She was too shy to give it to the teacher so another one of the kids did it. Jackson nudges me, "It was me Grandma."

I cannot begin to tell you in how many ways I am blessed. I have stories of each of my kids and grandkids.....I would be on here all the time. I get overwhelmed and so I don't write at all and I am sorry for that!

Love you, Le Anne
