ADaM's BirTHDaY BLoG...LaTE or NoT I don't care
Who do you know besides a member of the crew of the Pequod that would think it was a "good time" to build a coffin on his birthday? I was impressed with Adam's carpentry skills, but more impressed when the Frozen Dead Guy Days coffin race was postponed til Sunday and they didn't race...after all that work, Good Man Adam!
Adam currently lives half the month "in a van down by the river." Not really, he lives in a WonderBread truck back in a rock revine that looks a lot like a scene from "Tremors" with only his "Brave Little Toaster" to keep him warm. No, that would not be Tristan. This is only til he decides where he really wants to live...No Rush, Mindi is a patient woman!
It has been an adventure. One night after his 12 hour shift at the plant he declines a ride from his co-worker. It is after midnight and "Roosevelt Cold." He insists he will be fine. He is going to walk. It's only about a mile and a half to the truck, cross country. Lance makes him promise he will call when he gets to the truck. About 1:30 am. Lance calls, "You forgot to call didn't you."
Adam, "Nope, I'm not there yet, but it's OK. I'm pretty sure I know where I am now."
Then there was the time Carol Winters called me. She was in Roosevelt driving through this nasty storm. The sleet was blowing horizontally across the road and she sees this man in a hoody walking down the side of the road. She stops to offer him a ride. She asks, "Do you need a ride.........?Adam?" So funny, I am laughing when I tell this to Meagan and Cory. I tell them I can't believe Carol would stop to pick someone up out there in the middle of the oil fields. And Cory says, "I can't believe she would stop to pick up someone that looked like Adam!" (See picture of "homeless man" on Mindi's blog.)
There are lots of great stories about our Ad. (Again, see Mindi's blog. She sure loves him!) His care and concern for family extends beyond his own immediate family to all of us. He and Mindi are always thinking of ways to serve others. I especially appreciate his commitment to be there for every one of the nieces and nephews baptisms. I know they love and adore their Uncle Adam! We have been so blessed to have him in our lives! So glad Heavenly Father sent you to us!
Love you,
MOM
