ColoradoBennett-Daddy's Hat

Brooke, so when does Mike leave? And when do you move to WA? And when he gets back do you know where he will be stationed? WA? Was this a surprise, or did you know that Korea was an option? Wow. I can't imagine what your family is feeling right now.
Adam said that I've tanked on the blog, but that is so untrue. I love the blog more and more each day. The blogs have been so riotously funny lately, even Adam giggles out loud. I have been distracted by this book written my a guy in our ward. Brother Timber Dick met his lovely wife, Annette, at Yale and they've homeschooled 10 of their children. Their list of accomplishments are outstanding and I just love their family. The main focus of the book is that Annette was pregnant with conjoined twins in 1995. The twin boys shared a heart (actually one of the twin's heart failed so he stopped growing and his brother took over and pumped the blood for both of them), a liver, and some GI tract. They had the most amazing blessing from Elder Holland during a time when the doctors were pressuring Annette to abort the babies. There was a great risk to her own life and she had 9 other children at home at the time to care for. They prayerfully decided to keep going with the pregnancy and give the babies every possible chance of survival. At about 24 weeks Annette noticed something was wrong and went in to discover the heart stopped beating. They do a lot of talking in the book about the LDS view of miscarriages in relation to eternal families. Elder Holland, in his blessing to Annette, told her she would be raising these twins in the millennium. She had one other miscarriage and a little three month old baby who died suddenly of what was first called SIDS but later they found heart problems. It is wonderful to hear of her faith and hope that she will be the mother of all these children for eternity. The book also focuses on the many blessings that have come to this family and there are many. It is a wonderful book. I'm sure you can find it outside of my neck of the woods. It's called "With One Heart" by Timber Dick.
On Monday we accidentally left Adam's hat at a playground we were playing at. Sierra was wearing it but quickly left it behind to go down the slide. Adam didn't miss it until the next day while at work so the girls and I went looking for this precious, sweat-stained, faded Canondale hat. It was pouring rain as I ran through the playground searching, but I came up empty handed. The girls and I decided to go together into the school and check their lost and found. Sierra loves schools and she was so excited to walk the halls with all the big kids around her. We found daddy's hat in the lost and found and it was a great victory that was quickly forgotten by mom. That is until the lunch prayer when Sierra interrupted me and insisted that I thank Heavenly Father for helping us find daddy's hat. What wonderful gratitude this pure little spirit has!
