Brind and I were SO EXCITED for Violet's first Halloween... and really her first holiday (unless you count Labor Day...No? Me neither). We dreamed of toting her door to door with tiny bag in hand collecting candy, that of course Brind and I would eat later. And anticipated seeing all the cute kids from the neighborhood all dressed up.

But we gotta tell ya, it was sort of a let down. No kids came to our door. And Violet couldn't care less what day it was. She hated the hood on her bee-suit, Brind just refused to dress up (I did manage to get him to wear it for awhile at a friend's party last week... thanks to Adam for the authentic beekeeping garb), and I got NO CANDY! We went to our ward's trunk-or-treat and mingled with friends and came home after an hour. Eh. Our favorite part of the night was that the girl fell asleep early and Brind and I were able to watch "The Others" undisturbed. We think next year will be better.

Your costumes are fantastic. I was so happy to open the blog and see a cute little bee.

Don't want to be negative, but Halloween's definately changing. It's all about "safe" trick or treating nowadays (aka: trick or treating at the mall or local old folks home). We didn't have an visitors, either. Lame! But we stil love Halloween, right? (;

Maybe the one upside of Utah is that Halloween is alive and well here! Going door to door in the neighborhoods is almost like trunk or treating in the church parking lot. so i guess that's cool.

You are so cute. Too bad we were in Lacey. I still have your popcorn balls all ready and waiting for you. I had to beat Ellery off with a big stick.

PS I am convinced there isn't a kid out there that likes their Halloween costume as well as we like seeing them in them.
