I Want To Remember This Day Forever
This was a good family day. Not that we did anything momentous, we were just together. After school we let the girls ditch choir and we all went to the accountant together (yeah! No really, she lives on a lot of land with 6 dogs, 1 cat, 2 donkeys, 1 horse, and many many chickens. Fun to see for us city folk.) On the way home Sierra announced that she heard at school that today was the 100 year anniversary for Oreos. So we stopped by the store to pick up a package and a few other items for our spaghetti dinner.
We missed FHE last night, so we improvised with a lesson at dinner about D&C 108:7 "Therefore, strengthen your [family] in all your conversation, in all your prayers, in all your exhortations, and in all your doings." No one was listening, it was frustrating pandemonium. So then we fed them oreos and tried to get them to exercise from 8-8:30. We played tag, did some basic gymnastics & push ups. Adam did 3 push ups with Ruby on his back, then repeated the set with Tristan, then Kaia, then Sierra, then me. Then all the kids piled on his back and he did one amazing, manly push up. I'm helping the YM with the boy scout fitness merit badge. I'm trying to get more than 20 push ups in 1 min. Lame, I know, but I have 12 weeks to improve. Then we read the story of Captain Moroni & Zerahemnah in Alma 44. Adam really made the story come to life for the kids, making sure they understood the message. That moment in time will always be one of my favorite memories.
Last Thursday Sierra's 3rd grade put on a presentation called "Night of the Notables". They all choose a historic character and spent weeks researching. They wrote a paper, memorized a speech, and came dressed in costumes to the presentation. Sierra was Amelia Earhart and she honestly did such a good job. All the parents would start at their child, listen to their speech, then go around to all the other kids scattered through out the school. It was one of the best programs we've been to. I'm so glad Adam was there, he was really interested in hearing as many speeches as possible in the allotted time. He is such a sponge for knowledge. I think he listened to 64-some-odd books last year. He and Sierra are reading a Henry David Throeau book together when he is home. "A truly good book teaches me better than to read it. I must soon lay it down, and commence living on its hint. What I began by reading, I must finish by acting."
Henry David Thoreau

Sierra you are a stud. I need to get into this whole book on tape that my brothers dig so much. I do listen to a whole lot of NPR and mormon channel while I'm working but books would be so fun!
