I had to give a talk in sacrament meeting 2 weeks ago on scripture study. It was based on a talk given by Pres. Benson in May of 1986 (ensign) called The Power of the Word. Check out the following link:

I also used Rob and Patti as an example. I don't know if you followed their website but just a few days before Rob passed away Patti wrote an entry that towards the end of it talked about studying her scriptures daily. Here was a woman who went from having an active husband to help her with 5 kids and all of her other responsibilities and then almost overnight was doing all that plus taking care of her husband. The world would say that if anyone had an excuse to use their time a little differently it would have been Patti. She didn't do that though, she took the road less traveled and gave us all an example of how we should live close to the Lord regardless of our circumstances.

Anyway, just a few thoughts from me.
