For my Mama
Last night i was laying in bed and i was thinking about my mom and so many memories i have of her so i thought i'd list a few.
-weekends work- when we were younger sometimes mom would blast Phantom, Les Mis, Beattles, or Neil through the house while we cleaned
-Fun date days- when the date was like 9/8/98 or something fun like that mom would take us to do something fun, especially in the summer. my favorite days were when mom would wake us up and tell us to hurry and get ready cuz we were going to the arboretum.
-Driving to Utah in the van- the back seat was so broken down your tail bone was dead in the first hour or so and it was so blasted hot before the sun went down (we liked to drive at night) but mom would never want to unroll the windows. she would just turn on the ac and tell us "give it a minute" for about an hour until the whole car was steamed up from 6 sweaty kids in the back
-Cleaning before trips- mom would make us clean into the wee hours of the morning before we left on a trip because she didn't want to come home to a dirty house. i mostly remember the smell of vinegar from mopping the floors and wanting to go to sleep so badly.
-Mom reading to us- Work and the Glory, Lion's Paw, Walter the Warthog, A town like Alice etc.
-Going shopping and having to look over the racks for the bright red hair
-Weeding in the yard and eating pb&j and milk on the tramp
-When my lungs were so bad they had to admitt me overnight at the hospital, mom slept on my hospital bed with me
-My first cross country meet was a nightmare, so hot, i wasn't a good runner. about the last quarter mile mom practically ran it with me. she tried to stop when we got close enough for people at the shute to see. (she thought i would be embarassed) i pretty much begger her to run the rest with me, in her skirt, birkenstocks and all.
-Having mom fly in to have me do her hair and her tipping me by taking me out to lunch
-i was basically in charge of planning the graduation from hair school. with a full schedule of appointments that day, mom and meagan saved me by running all over the place picking stuff up, and setting everything up once we got there.
-Traveling all over Finland with mom was a blast. she was such a good sport in the cold. if only she didn't have a pigeon bladder.
Mom you are amazing. Thank you for being an example, a friend and most importantly, the only mom that could have dealt with all 6 of us
I LOVE YOU!!!
