Ruby Joe's Blessing Day

Here she is! Ruby Joe Bennett. Wearing the family heirloom blessing dress (what is the story of the origin of this dress?) and slippers (who made these again? I LOVE them.) and the blanket Aunt Meagan knitted. The blessing went perfectly. We had lots of support from friends and family. Bishop Voge, Don Dimig, Kelly Pitts, Stephen Brooks, Scott Carlson, Tony Winters, Jeremy Law and Marcus Purcell were in the circle. A friend of mine rushed up to me afterwards and handed me a piece of paper whereon she'd written everything she could remember Adam saying in the blessing. What a treasure! Ruby was blessed to:
*Serve & draw closer to Heavenly Father
*Recognize the Spirit and stay in tune
*Have a love of the outdoors
*Realize God's creations
*Have a bond with brother & sisters & cousins, draw strength from each other, grow strong together, live as an eternal family

I wanted to take the kids to the Temple yesterday while Adam was working. Gram drove us down there (she thought I was crazy to say I was going to try it alone so she said she'd come along to help). It was a stressful drive (whining, crying, traffic) and no one was interested in cooperating for the picture. Nevertheless, just being on temple grounds was nourishing to my soul.

Great post Mind. I love her middle name. Sounds like her blessing was great and she was blessed with some wonderful things. I believe that Aunt IvaLou made the booties. I have a pair just like that and she is who made mine and I think she makes them for everyone.

Look how happy she looks! I have loved having notes from all of my kid's blessings, even when they are written on crumpled up programs!

oh mindi i love that. i love taking my kids to the temple. what an example you set for your g'ma and your kids. even though it is not always easy (actually never easy) you go. and the blessing where ad mentioned ruby being close to not only her siblings, but her cousins made me tear up. i love my cousins and i pray everyday that our kids will stay close and be best friends like we have been!!
