hood to coast

i finished and i am still alive. i was very nervouse, but decided that i could walk if i had to. when we went to meet the team they were in shock that my baby was so young. i guess the guy who recruited me forgot to tell them that i was only 7 1/2 weeks postpardum. so by the time we got up to the mountain they had decided to offer me the shorter legs that i wanted. so i only had to run 6, 3.3 and 4.2 miles. much better. we started late after noon with the faster runners. they stagger the start so that there's not quite a spread at the finish. running with the faster runners was not too good for my selfesteem. i felt like i was standing still as every one crused past me. but some of the people who were passing me had seen us at the top with hazel and said how amazed they were that i was running, so that made me feel a little better. when i finnished my first leg i was hot, it was 86 degrees, and tired but felt really good. i felt even better when they told me i had run 9:16 miles. not bad for a fat girl. when we finally handed off to the other car it was about 9:30 so it was time to park and sleep before our next leg. yeah right sleep, i can't at home on my $1000 matteress, let alone in the back of the monty under a freeway, right by train tracks with other runners coming and going. but cory and hazey slept, infact hazel slept through the night. she was the perfect baby, slept when she was suppose to awake and happy the rest of the time. everyone loved her so much they put her in all the team pics. my second leg was short and cool, so i felt great and not so many people passed me but it was at 4:30 am so i was glad to be done. when it was time for us to sleep this time i had no problem even with all the noise and it being 9:00 am. i got a solid 1 1/2 hours. mindi this is your kind of adventure. no sleep and hardly any food. now it was time to start thinking about the finnal leg. mom and dad were suppose to meet us with the kids so mom could run with me and the babies could play at the beach. well we had no phone reception and they didn't know when or where exactly to meet us so i was freaking out. we weren't suppose to get reception again until after we had handed off to the other car. but miricles do happen, cory kept checking and got two bars and caught mom and dad right before the turn off to where then needed to meet us. heavenly father does answer even the littlest prayers. my legs were mush and it was 89 degrees but mom and i had a blast and i did far better than i thought i would. i really thought i would have to walk, but we ran the whole way and she pushed me up the hills. you guys it was so dang fun!!! i would love to put together a family team. just ask leash, it's totally worth the trip and the pain. well i love you all and sorry this was so long. i will have cor post some picuters tonight, it was a beautiful weekend. ........meags
