Gone [for] November

Adam leaves for job training in Houston tomorrow at noon. We don't really know how long he will be gone, but it could be most of November. I've been reluctant to announce that in the blogosphere, let me also add that I sleep with several loaded guns, a K-9 German Sheperd at my feet, and I never miss my target when swinging a baseball bat (ok, that last part isn't true). I'm really, really going to miss him. Yet I've been well trained in the art of single parenting these last few months while he has worked so much. Except that I keep getting sick. I was sick for a few days when Le Anne was here visiting, and now I've had the body aches/monster cough for 6 days. "Tomorrow will be the last day and Adam and the children will not catch it", I shout futily to the virus/bacteria.

We had our ward party last night. I won "The Best Chili Ever" award. Now that is a major award :). I used spaghetti sauce instead of tomato sauce and it just happened to compliment the chili spices very well. Oh, and I used elk meat. Adam bought us a bunch of costumes last year on the day after Halloween for 75% off. Mine was "Autumn Witch" and I can't believe they can get away with making such a skimpy, trashy dress and calling it a costume. I wore a few layers underneath. Kaia made up her "snowflake" costume as we were walking out the door. Apparently the elephant costume she wore to school earlier that day wasn't going to cut it for the second party. Right now she is working on a third costume for tonight's party. Sierra's costume is falling apart in the above pic. She calls herself a "tap-dancing vampire" b/c she borrowed that dress from Gram's collection of tap-dancing outfits. She made the newspaper wig in her first Activity Days last week. She is so excited to be part of that group. Tristan was a Transformer, but he wouldn't look up for the picture b/c a smaller kid was threatening his candy at that moment. Ruby was a little monkey, the same costume we got for Kaia at this age. So cute.

I can't remember who said it; Joan or Paula, but they said after they ate pizza they envisioned their taste buds as little cups that couldn't get filled. Well now every time we have pizza that is what cory and I think of; our little half empty cups. Man I wish I could fill mine tonight - way too much pizza!

Funny Beck

OK so I have to share another Beck story. So last night Monica and I were laying in bed talking and all 3 of the kids had been asleep for about an hour. Beck had decided again that he would rather sleep on the floor in the girls room instead of his comfy queen sized bed. Anyway, while we were talking I heard laughing and I told Monica I thought the kids were still awake. We listened for a minute and realized it was just Beck laughing and then it started to get closer. I looked up to see Beck walk right past our bedroom door into the living room, laughing and giggling all the while. Monica said, "I think he might be sleep walking". I jumped out of bed and followed him to see what was going on. He walked around the coffee table, towards the wall and then walked in a circle. After 2 circles he straightened out and started walking right towards me but he literally had no idea I was there. He was dead asleep, laughing and walking. I leaned down and picked him up and instantly he laid his head on my shoulder and stopped. I carried him into our bedroom and sat down on the bed with him. Monica and I were both talking to him and he would just laugh and laugh and when we'd stop talking he would just lay there peacefully. After a couple minutes I went and laid him back down and he was quiet for the rest of the night. This morning when we asked him about it he had no recollection of his little sleep walking adventure!

Spooky Night

We had our Spooky Night with Gma. Danna & Pa. We went on a walk in the dark, lit a bon fire, and read spooky poetry.
Ooooooooooo.

Provo

I took finny to the pumpkin patch as part of a mothers group thing in our ward today. However I didn't realize we were supposed to meet at someone's house beforehand so we were on our own. Oh well we had fun getting lost in the corn maze. And yes I did snatch Finn's finger away before the goat chomped it.

Hike with Danna & Pa in Estes Park:

Sierra's Baptism:

We plan to go to the Denver Temple to take more pictures of Sierra in the beautiful dress with Danna & Pa this week. It was a wonderful baptism. We missed everyone who couldn't be here (no musical number), but we understand. Danna & Pa made dinner for my family (including Gram, my parents & siblings), then they both gave great talks at the baptism and served up hot fudge sundays to 75 grateful people. They are WONDERFUL!!

richmond now

Okay, so I hope the topless pic of Geof. doesn't make anyone uncomfortable. I know this is a family friendly blog..so please delete if you are offended or think someone else might be. Promise: no offense taken. I just think it's a hysterical pic. The kids love hanging on Geof.'s legs while he does pull ups. He's mastered it pretty well with Junie. The other 2? Not so much. Here's my two oldest trying olives for the first time. Not fans. I don't even know how we ended up with olives in the house. Nobody likes them around here.
And a repeat from my blog about Cole:
Tonight I'm putting him to bed and I give him a kiss and he says, "Mom, everytime I kiss your lips I smell something. It's always the same".
Me: : "Yes, Cole. Mom's have their smell and you'll always remember that." and then, just to be funny I add, "Was it a good or bad smell?"
Cole: "Kind of both".

Gotta brush my teeth more...

Beck

So yesterday was Beck's 4th Birthday and this is how our conversation went 1st thing in the morning:
Me: Happy Birthday Beck!
B: What, am I 4 years old now!
Me: Yes.
B: Oh my gosh, I grew so big last night. I'm so tall now. (looking at his hands) Look at my hands, MY PINKY IS SO LONG NOW!

The rest of the day was filled with "I'm 4 now, I can do it without help"
